About Us
The HiLight Surgical leadership team began at the University of California, Davis. Confronted with the unmet need of tissue characterization in cancer treatment, we applied advanced biophotonics solutions to address this issue. To complement the team's scientific expertise, we retained known MedTech veterans to pivot towards commercialization.
We are now mission driven to improve the quality of care and quality of life for those who must endure the misfortune of illness and are bolstered by the knowledge that our efforts will one day change healthcare delivery and outcomes for cancer patients.


The HiLight Solution
HiLight Surgical has developed a fiber optic-based imaging system designed with the purpose of intraoperative verification of tissue margins or biopsy results immediately in real time. This simple, low-cost system utilizes label-free Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging (FLIm) technology enhanced with AI-ML.
It can operate as a stand-alone device or interface with other visualization modalities and will:

Provide immediate determination of the nature of the tumor or tissue

Deliver real time localization and discrimination of critical anatomy during surgical procedures

Potentially reduce cancer recurrence or complications associated with PSM

Improve surgical workflow with reduced procedure times and decreased cost
